My Latest Theysken's Obsession

Theyskens’ Theory is a collection by Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens, incorporating the daring vision that has made Theyskens one of the most acclaimed designers of his generation, and the chic, sophisticated sensibility that makes Theory a wardrobe staple for fashionable women everywhere. Full of fluid, romantic pieces with Theory’s signature quality tailoring and clean silhouettes, Theyskens’ Theory is ubiquitous cool for individual style. Designing a collection branded theyskens’ theory was Olivier Theyskens’ initial source of inspiration to create a consistent wardrobe for the women of today.

All the creations of the theyskens’ theory collection reveal the designer’s point of view of what he feels are the needs for key-clothing styles. Fueled by this dynamic, his work quite naturally meets the quality and core values for which Theory has always stood for. The collection captures different moods, tempering the androgyny of its tailoring, jeans, cut and sew pieces with the feminine touch of blouses, shirts, dresses and lingerie. Shoes and accessories complete the collection embracing the same approach.

The first drop from his Spring Summer 2011 collection evolves in three sequences. It opens with a graphic, straight-forward and rigorous silhouette. The color palette is minimal with a predominance of black and white, dark purple and various chalky grays. The look is urban, expressing a modern and chic yet structural and graceful glamour, echoing a contemporary attitude.

The second part of the collection reveals more casual looks with light and flowing shapes. Blues and grays offer variations of in-between shades while deep khakis contrast with paler green and beige. The feel is serene and maintains a cool and modern elegance as carried throughout the entire collection. Different styles suggest vintage shapes and the artistic prints evoke inky brush strokes. Ultimately, as summer is at its peak, Kadi cotton and fluid silks are mixed with denims in various washes and with fitted cargo styles. Fresh whites and intense cornflower blues are set off by sharp silver and deep black. The look portrays soft and stylish coolness.
