A war has raged while you slept
and the pillagers have looted the skies.
There’s not a gold, a diamond left
but only us stood, bereft.
And when the sun came through
the morning mist,
the first ray of light, shining from
the east,
you shielded your eyes and sank deeper
to sleep. We are the only ones here with
bruised and bloodied fists.
Thus content your heart now
with the cut-out, glow stickers over your bed,
the moon has ceased to be,
and the stars no longer exist,
they too are dead.
